Traffic Grosses 90 Lakhs in its Opening Weekend
Malayalam film industry starts the year 2011 with a positive note. The first Friday of 2011 that saw the three films of which Traffic opened with positive reviews is a thriller that keeps the audience at the edge of the seats. The movie had an average opening, with encouraging reports positive word of mouth the collections saw increase in its collections on Saturday and Sunday. The movie in its opening weekend grossed around Rs 90 Lakhs (9 Million), with a distributor’s share of 40 Lakhs (4 Million). Even though a big jump is not there in the collections, it still can emerge as a winner at the box office if it can hold up for another couple of weeks.
Swetha Menon’s Kayam opened with around 20-25% collections, carries a below average reports. The movie promoted as B grade film, kept the families to stay away from the movie. It may find a few takers in B and C centers at some part of the state.
Other release of the week, Nagaram wihich had a very limited release and opened with empty cinema halls. Nothing much was expected from this film and is disaster at the box office.
