Collector – Noting New To Offer

Collector (Suresh gopi) is in the edge to collect the hits. But it miss the total hits. Anil C Menon tried hard this time to make an inspiring venture. The hard core Suresh Gopi proved this as one of his bests.

Suresh Gopi playing the title role as Avinash Verma in this film. Yesteryear beauty Mohini comes as mayor, Yamini Sharma as ACP is another forgettable character. Nedumudi Venu, Babu Raj, Abu Salim all enacted their one dimensional characters. Rajeev, Ananya, Biju Pappan, Sree Hari, T.P. Maadhavan, Krishna Kumar, Chali Pala, Manka Mahesh, Ambika Mohan were the rest.

Movie tells the story of district Collector Avinash Varma who gets transferred to Kochi to deal with the venomous land mafia; from the special request of CM (Janarthanan). From the day he takes charge; the battle between the collector and antagonist starts and it goes on and on with hero banging into the villains, crashing their vehicles, their buildings etc. He has to face the dreaded real estate don (Anil Adityan).He manages to nab him but certain unexpected happens and it leads to the entry of Christopher (Rajeev). The gun shots are never ending and the soundtrack sawing away at thrilling music. Then leads to a hide and seek journey between them. Just because script has such endless sequences it doesn’t make it necessary in a film. Scenes are to be made to drive a story forward and not simply to manifest shapeless, haphazard violence.

Suresh Gopi is quite comfortable playing the Collector. He is more like the Commissioner himself. He does his job well. Rajeev is quite good as well, as the cut throat villain. Bajuraj after Salt N’ Pepper impresses and leaves an impact on the screen. Another highlight of the film is splendid camera work by the Manoj Paramahamsa.

Lack of script, poor dialogues plenty of slow motion sequence and poor direction make the film a forgettable affair.

The film has nothing new except a good suggestion for media to not to give news on harthals and thus not become the tongue of petty politics which destroy our state.
