Malayalam Top 5 – Week Ending October 27, 2011

Santosh Pandit’s Krishnanum Radhayum had a limited release (3 cinemas), Took A bumper opening in these cinemas.

Other language films dominated Kerala Box office this week and they were showing in almost 300 cinemas across Kerala. Not good sign for Malayalam film industry as films like Snehaveedu and Indian Rupee has been removed for these films. Even though these films carried positive reports collections were on the lower side.

Indian Rupee is doing exceptionally well in the Kozhikode city and is expected to collect 60 – 65 Lakhs from Kozhikode Apsara alone.

    honestly i satrted visiting sanscinema from this march-april as yu ppl used to publish the bo figures and some really intersting posts about malayalam films in the beginning.of late,yu ppl have been posting some mediocre stuff with no collection figures.

    it seems ,sanscinema is back in form for yu ppl have come up with figures yet again…

    btw indian rupee and snehaveedu are continuing in the major centres now in their 5 th and 6 th weeks respectively.in some places both these films have made comebacks too after they got replaced by the olf last week..
    like in kondotty,aleppey sv has made a comeback and in places like changanassery indian rupee has made a comeback.both these films are expected to continue in 18-20 centres this week(6 th week in the case of sv,5th week in the case of ir)

      just check the collection of KR.It may be maximum 30 lakhs from week 1.Malayalam film industry can’t go for a budget of more than 10 cr as the return on investment(ROI) will be far lesser.Maximum amount recovered in recent times is by CB.CT,Seniors and Pazhassi Raja.CB,CT and Pazhassi Raja costed more than 10 cr so ROI is not that great.But seniors which had a budget of 3.5 cr managed 14 cr so can be termed an All time Blockbuster.But the point to be noted is that if at all a mega budget movie is to be made it should be with the M’S.

    Thanks for a great comeback.Your USP is the updated collection update rather than a comment whether the film is a hit or not.
    Nikhi i want to know whether the ban on malayalam films is applicable for SV and IR.If they are excluded these films will be benefitted more as RA 1 and 7aam arivu are rejected by now

    yes,they are excluded.i.e they are nt facing the ban.ban only for new malayalam releases..that means both ir and sv will continue after nov 1 st also and they are doing so..the comebacks i mentioned for ir and sv happened after nov 1 st…

    With the huge opening it got it would have managed a net of 3+ cr in first week itself.It had a bumper second weekend as weel.So first 2 weeks will have fetched a collection of 4.5 to 4.75 cr.So i feel it is possible for a 6.75 cr collection
