Chattakkari – Nothing New To Offer
Review By Sreejith
Its become a trend in Malayalam to remake old movies, espically if the movie is known for its sexual content. Last week we saw Rasaleela and a week later we have Chattakkari.
Chattakkari is the adaptation of Pamman’s famous novel of the same name. The script is credited to Thoppil Bhasi and is very much the same as the original.
Chattakkari is the story of an Anglo-Indian girl Julie (shamna Kasim) who falls in love with her friends brother who lives next door.
Julie lives with her parents, father a druncard played by Innocent and her mother lives a rich lifestyle even if they cannot afford that. In her neighbourhood lives Usha and her family and is a friend of Julie. Julie meets Sasi (Hemant) at Usha’s house and fall in love with him. Their relationship gets intimate and Julie gets pregnant.
Shamna Kasim tries hard to bring life to Julie and succeeds till an extent. Hemant seems to be confused and lost. Innocent looks tired and seems to be uninterested.
Cinematography was excellent with beautiful visuals.
The plot looks irrelavent and seems to be totally misplaced. When the producer decideds to make some quick money, the easiset way is to sell sexul content. The new Chattakkari is one such remake that can be avoided.
