A Dozen Releases & A Dozen Disasters

Where is Malayalam Film Industry is heading? After the success of My Boss, more than a dozen films were released in Malayalam and sadly all the films were complete wasouts. Sadly none of the releases post My Boss will not even recover the money spend on print and publicity cost.

The list of these failures include biggies like Mammooty’s Face to Face, Jayaram-Shaji Kailas teams Madirasi, Shafi’s multistarrer 101 Weddings, Dulquer Salman’s Theevram.

Though the number of releases had doubled since last couple of years, the quality of the films had fallen drastically. With four to five films scheduled to release every Friday, most of the films didnt even get a decent number of theaters in its opening week.

The only film that found appreciation from the audience in the last few months is Dileep’s My Boss. My Boss succeeded as it didnt face any kind of competetion from any other release.

With the release of Christmas films, we hope that this folp will come to an end.
