Kammath & Kammath, the first big budget multistarrer of 2013 starts of in style by collecting more than 1.4 crore from the ticket window. One of the eagerly awaited film of 2013, fans of Dileep and Mammootty celebrated the first film of these stars in 2013.
The movie opened to 100% occupancy rate in all the major centers, collecting 1.43 crore from 96 cinemas in its opening day. The first day distributors share was around 65 lakhs which is highest in recent times. Last time we saw similar kind of opening was for Casanovva, which was released in more than 120 cinemas in Kerala. Normally films tend to slow down a bit on Saturday after a huge opening day, but since Saturday being a national holiday, the movie is expected collect more than Friday. The Saturday numbers can be in the range of 1.5 – 65 crore.
Fans are lauding the performance of the superstars and was in celebration mood while watching Kammath & Kammath in theaters. The film carries mixed to negative response from critics (read review)as well as from the masses.
Being multistarrer will ensure the movie a huge opening weekend numbers, which is expected to be in the range of 3.8 – 4.2 crore. The film can easily collected around 7.25 crore in the opening week if the drop in weekdays is less than 60%.
Kammath & Kammath reported to have completed in a budget of around 8 crore will face uphill task to recover the money invested. How much business the film will do from here will be dependent upon the second weekend business. If the fall is less than 65%, then we have the first blockbuster of the year in cards (which is very unlikely).
