Kammath & Kammath Is No Pokkiri Raja
Review By Sreejith
Kammath & Kammath, the multistarrer featuring Mammootty and Dileep tells the story of Raja Raja Kammath and Deva Raja Kammath.
The movie tells the what happens after the Kammath borthers arrives in Palakkad to run a hotel. They also get involved with the isses faced by the Palakkad muncipal commissoner and her sister. Rima Kallingal is the muncipal commissoner while Kathika plays the role of her sister.
What follows from here is a series of events in the name of comedy and entertainment which is asusual illogical, and this time boring as well. With the script is credited to Sibi K Thomas and Uday Krishnan, I never expect the film to have a story but expected the mass element which is seen in most of their film, espicially because the release day adverstiment carried the tag line “Sound Of Mass”. The poor and half baked script along with ordinary direction makes the film and epic failue.
Since the hero’s speaks Konkani and was promoted as one of the highlight, it is natural to expect jokes in Malayalam-Konakni but was very limited. The script writers failed to utilize possiblities here.
Dileep and Mammootty excels in their roles and delives a smashing performance. Dileep was more comfortable speaking Konkani mixed Malayalam and was superub with his comedy timings. Baburaj as the faithful driver of Kammath brothers had a full length role and surprisingly comeup with fine performance. He was good in both comedy and action sequences.
Rima Kallingal was impressive, while Karthika was a big let down. The film had cameos from Narien and Dhanush. While Narien and the flashback sequence involving Karthika was boring and unnecessarly stretched. Dhanush’s looked uninterested with the preceedings and looked total clueless on what is happening.
Background music was pretty ordinary and I excepted something better and interesting from Gopi Sunder. Dosa song was good but M Jayachandran disappoints with the rest. Editing was just plan, and so is the direction.
This flick may not make you bore, but the real question is it worth watching in cinemas? The movie will satisfy the fans of Mammootty and Dileep. But for others Kammath & Kammath will be just another average comic chapter, and can wait till the movie premiers on Mazhavil Manorama something during next Ramzan-Onam season.
